Summer School Driver Education *

A limited number of spaces for the Summer Driver Education (DE) classes are available.  Students signed up at the end of the sign-up period are enrolled with preference going from seniors to freshman.  After those students, in-district homeschooled students are enrolled, then out-of-district students are enrolled.  If we reach a class group size that has more students signed up than remaining spots, names are drawn randomly for enrollment.

Students MUST be 16 years of age on the day the course begins AND should have a learner's permit.

COST:

• $150 check made payable to Haverling Central School. 

HOW TO SIGN UP:

• Signing up for the summer classes is from mid May - end of May.
• Students must go to the High School guidance office with a check to pay for the course.
• In early June students will receive instructions and a tentative schedule for the summer DE course in the mail.

SUMMER SCHOOL DE SCHEDULE: (Subject to Change)

1. Summer School Driver Education (DE) will run as 2 separate sessions.  Each session will last approximately 3 weeks.  The 1st session will run through the 1st part of July and the 2nd session will run from the end of July through the beginning of August.  
2. Students will be in either the 1st session or the 2nd session. 
3. In each Summer School DE session, class lectures will occur Monday through Friday from 9:05 - 10:35.
4. Driving time will occur according to the schedule determined the first day of class for 90 minutes 5 days per week.

Fall and Spring Driver Education *

Only 12 spaces for the each semester of Driver Education (DE) classes are available. 

The cost and procedure for signing up is the same as signing up for the summer course, but the dates will vary.  Spots are filled on a first come first served basis.

• Sign ups for the fall and spring courses take place in the guidance office at the same time as the summer sign ups; mid May - end of May.
• For the fall and spring classes, payment of $150 is due just prior to the first class rather than at the time of registration.

FALL & SPRING DE SCHEDULE:

• At the beginning of each semester, students taking DE in that semester will receive instructions and a tentative schedule in the mail.
• Fall & Spring DE classes will be on Mondays - Thursdays after 3:00pm, usually for 90 minutes.

* Having a Driver Education program is subject to the yearly school district budget approval.
