Postion Title:  Bus Driver

Description:  The work involves responsibility for the operation of a bus on an assigned route for either a school district or for a special activity in a municipality such as a recreational program.  The work is carried out in accordance with well-established, well-defined, strict state-mandated procedures and regulations governing the safe operation of buses and involves the routine operation of a bus used to transport students and/or passengers on an assigned route as well as assuming responsibility for the safety and conduct of the students and/or passengers while en route from one destination to another.  Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher-level Head Bus Driver or a Transportation Supervisor with considerable leeway allowed the incumbent for the exercise of independent judgment in doing whatever is necessary to ensure that assigned bus runs are completed safely and successfully in a timely manner.  Does related work as required.
